The Brooklyn Description:
The clubby eatery, with its upholstered booths and dark wood furnishings, attracts a loyal clientele from neighboring office towers, as well as tourists and concert-goers. Housed in the former Brooklyn Hotel, one of Seattle's few remaining nineteenth-century commercial buildings, the Brooklyn's upbeat ambience and high energy is welcoming and unpretentious. The copper-trimmed oyster bar reportedly shucks and serves 400 dozen bivalves each week. Take advantage of the tasting samplers pairing various oysters with wines or draft beers. You can't go wrong ordering anything served with the smoked tomato butter sauce. Standouts are the grilled salmon sausage, oven-roasted salmon cooked Native American-style on an alderwood plank, and sea scallops layered with crisp potato nets. Carnivores will enjoy quality steaks or oven-roasted lamb T-bones, crusted with porcini and moistened with a rosemary-scented demi-glace. For a twist on surf 'n' turf, try the bacon-wrapped, oyster-stuffed filet mignon christened with lemon-thyme bordelaise sauce.
