Agua Verde Cafe and Paddle Club Description:
This festive, waterfront café offering Baja-inspired food along with kayak rentals is quite apropos for Seattle. The dining rooms are painted in vibrant south-of-the-border colors, while spicy food and margaritas add another layer of warmth. At lunch, UW students and professors mingle to enjoy cafeteria-style service, tucking into tacos de la casa, three corn tortillas filled with anything from spicy catfish doused in a creamy avocado sauce to yams sautéed with mild chilies and onions, and an assortment of tortas (sandwiches). The full dinner service offers a more extensive menu ranging from botanas (appetizers) and nightly specials such as Monday's pollo en mole (chicken smothered in a sweet chocolate sauce) and Thursday's carne asada (grilled flank steak rubbed with garlic and oil). Dessert lovers will want to save room for a slice of Key lime pie.
