The signature dessert is the gondolino, a crispy pastry gondola dipped in chocolate and filled with berries, floating on a vanilla crème brûlée. After dinner, guests enjoy a complimentary gondola ride, complete with singing gondoliers, through a man-made river behind the resort. Sensing a theme? Alto is molto Italian, from the dedicated salumi room in the corner of the race car sleek restaurant, to the handcrafted pastas, to the truffled polenta that accompanies the veal saltimbocca, to the homemade limoncello that puts a pleasant burn in your belly and an even pleasanter burn in your brain. But it's not shtick: this stuff is rustic but primo, down to the attentive, friendly servers who know the menu so well that they practically savor the specials as they announce them. The wine list is well thought out, with, naturally, a healthy selection of Italian favorites.
