Sage Bakehouse Description:
Since its 1996 debut, the Sage Bakehouse has become a Santa Fe institution. The bread is golden perfection, made even more delicious by a natural leavening process free of commercial yeast, and other restaurants around town proudly feature it. The coffeehouse happened as an offshoot of the bakery, with a menu that has evolved through the years. At breakfast, we're drawn towards the lovely croissants, fruit tarts, scones and muffins, and we can't resist some cookies for later. Midday, we always go for one of the sandwiches, with simple fillings---including chicken, Black Forest ham, Gruyere cheese and tuna with roasted red peppers---that highlight the flavorful bread.
