This spacious restaurant is certainly suitable for a tasty lunch, but it's at dinnertime that the ambience comes alive, with stylish lighting and décor that gives it a touch of big city feel. You'll get a complimentary bowl of edamame while you peruse the menu, and take note of the specials board for freshly caught treats like ono sashimi. All the usual sushi rolls are available---spicy tuna, California roll, rainbow roll, and the like---but you'll also find distinctive creations such as the red fox roll with crab and avocado inside and spicy tuna outside. (Also, though we're not a fan of baked rolls, the presentation of the aptly named "fire in the roll" is fun to watch; it's a crab and avocado roll with baked snapper outside that's served flaming.) Other menu items include beef teriyaki, chicken udon, spicy tuna salad and shrimp tempura with a nice assortment of veggies such as parsnips and eggplant. For those who enjoy a show with the meal, sit at one of the teppan grill tables. Sushiya is also one of the growing ranks of Japanese restaurants that are open throughout the day without closing in mid-afternoon, and you can request organic brown rice on any order for an additional dollar.
