Margie's Diner Description:
This San Luis Obispo family restaurant offers both quantity and quality, and there's no way you'll leave hungry. Since 1984, owner and chef Margie Johnson has been serving a menu of "Real Food" that promises no prepackaged foods, no powdered mixes, and no instant or frozen anything. Pancakes, gravy, biscuits and milkshakes are made fresh daily; hamburgers are hand-formed. It's old-fashioned and friendly, down to the cheerful service. Johnson jokingly flirted with the contemporary by adding a "Lite" section to her menu, but around these parts, it's her hearty American fare that appeals. Other locations.
