Zuni Cafe Description:
Zuni Café is still one of the most popular restaurants in San Francisco. Its loyal clientele hangs out at the long copper bar, downing freshly shucked oysters with Champagne or its signature balsamic Bloody Mary. Then they stroll past the wood-burning oven in this complex of eccentrically added rooms and take a seat to dig into a sumptuous Sunday brunch, warming winter supper, or, late at night, a hamburger on focaccia. Owner-chef Judy Rodgers has been refining her cooking since 1987; her fondness for the rustic style of southern France and Italy is apparent in the roasted chicken for two, served with warm bread salad with red mustard greens, scallions, currants and pine nuts. The Caesar salad, made with anchovies cured in-house, is justly famed. In fact, we don't know of any other menu where we find so many hearty, satisfying dishes.
