Yank Sing Restaurant Description:
This location of Yank Sing features the same wonderful dim sum that has been drawing diners to the financial district for years. The large, elegant room in the Rincon Center is stylishly inviting and a perfect place to enjoy a leisurely Sunday brunch with the family or dine with co-workers during the week. A nice selection of vegetarian choices includes snow pea shoot dumplings---plump translucent bonnets of snow pea tendrils and scallions with just a hint of ginger, garlic and toasty sesame oil---and beautiful chive-juice colored green tortellini filled with hand-chopped spinach, water chestnuts, carrots, shiitake mushrooms and bamboo shoots. Seafood options range from an open-topped bonnet stuffed with fresh, sweet snow crab meat then topped with tobiko and cilantro, to the unique Phoenix Tail---a large whole shrimp encased in shrimp mousse croquette, lightly battered and fried until golden brown. Other standouts include the succulent house-roasted Peking duck and creamy sea bass with a caramelized honey-glazed exterior that seals the moisture inside. While we have yet to meet a dumpling at Yank Sing that we didn't like, the signature Shanghai dumpling is the stuff that epicurean dreams are made of---when you bite into the paper-thin dumpling filled with Berkshire pork, you also get a surprising burst of rich, hot broth. Save room for the coconut cream roll---sweet rice filled with custard and topped with coconut flakes. If you're in a hurry, Yank Sing 2 Go next store offers dim sum as well as combination lunches.
