Fattoush Description:
The name of this restaurant is the same as one of the meals that is served: grilled eggplant mixed with tomatoes, mint, cucumber, Italian parsley and green onion, sprinkled with sumac and tossed in a special lemon vinaigrette. It's traditionally the first thing eaten after the yearly Ramadan fast. The chef is Manal Al-Shafi, formerly of YaYa's, and here she does feast foods from Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Morocco. One intriguing dish is the Palestinian mansaf, a nomadic creation of lamb cooked in aged yogurt with rice, roasted almonds and pine nuts. Add $12 to any entrée price and the royal'' feast, with many more side dishes plus dessert and mint tea, is yours.
