Neptune's Palace Description:
Pier 39 never fails to attract hoards of out-of-town pedestrians who troll the famous waterfront in search of loudmouth sea lions and steaming clam chowder served in carved-out sourdough bread bowls. Neptune's Palace, located on the second level at the end of the pier, provides this sort of tourist entertainment. Diners can stare at San Francisco Bay to their heart's content from most of the restaurant's tables. Then, when that's lost its magic, they can tuck into Neptune's Palace's crab cakes. Sure, most restaurants wharfside serve them. But Neptune's are a little different; they come four ways. You get chilled marinated crab legs, crispy crab cake with spicy rémoulade, baked crab dip with toasted focaccia and a crab spring roll. Fresh fish specialties include baked salmon with mizuna greens and saffron risotto and Creole mustard sauce. Fisherman's stew swims in a tomato broth with an array of shellfish and penne pasta. Like the rest of the menu, desserts don't stick their neck out: classics like Key lime pie, vanilla crème brûlée and tiramisu.
