Devotees of this tiny restaurant in Bernal Heights concede to being addicted to the signature chicken potpie. Who can blame them? The expertise shows through from the first bite of flaky crust to the steaming gravy and, finally, in the top quality chicken and vegetables. This devotion to quality is seen throughout the short menu. Salads sparkle with pristine local ingredients. American favorites like roasted duck breast, lamb, and fish arrive at the table with simple, homey sides. Expect other comfort food favorites like boeuf bourguignonne and tamales. A very American wine list doesn't go overboard, but sticks to tried and true flavors at reasonable prices. And, since the restaurant doesn't accept reservations, most of those on the wait list can be found in the wine bar behind the restaurant. The entire dessert list will sound alluring, if familiar. Don't miss the pies since their crusts have been perfected.
