Le Zinc French Bistro Description:
Noe Valley has waited patiently for a stylish, contemporary eatery complete with dark wood detail, buttery walls, and a nice wine list to pop up along the 24th Street walking and shopping district. Le Zinc promised all that and more-French bistro food open from breakfast till dinner from a husband-and-wife team who recently closed their wine bar in Paris' sixth arrondissement. The bistro fare hits the mark with a menu that includes crêpes, both sweet and savory, quiches, steak frites, rillet sandwiches and beef Bourgogne. Service is exceptionally slow and clearly not focused on the comfort or schedules of guests. Waits are interminably long between seating, and the ordering and arrival of courses, which isn't bad if you are vacationing in France but can be troublesome for most hungry or busy San Franciscans. Long, leisurely lunches spent sipping wine and chatting with friends would be the best way to enjoy Le Zinc.
