Jitlada Thai Cuisine Description:
On the edge of Japantown, just two blocks from the bustling upper Fillmore district, is a truly special Thai restaurant in a town of Asian restaurants. Jitlada's sparklingly clean room borders on too sparse. The white walls and linen-covered tables are accented only with freshly cut flowers on the tables. The quiet neighborhood crowd adds a jovial hum to the atmosphere. Sure, pad thai and fabulous tom kha gai are on the menu. But there are also a number of home-style Thai dishes that don't reside on every Thai menu. A dish called evil princess quickly became the favorite at our table with its fragrant and spicy coconut curry cloaking tender pieces of pork and eggplant. Prawns are stuffed with chicken and shrimp, pan-fried and skewered into an orange half arriving at the table in an artful presentation. The sweet and humble chef meets with every table after the dinner rush to thank diners for coming.
