Jasmine Tea House Description:
At the point in the outer Mission neighborhood where Mission and Valencia streets meet, a bright neon sign reads Jasmine Tea House in rainbow colors. The inside of this humble and remodeled spot is a bit offbeat, with its pink walls and dark wood accents. The warmth and professionalism, though, is unmistakable from the attentive waitstaff to the well-prepared Mandarin-style Chinese food. If you are stuck on standards you won't be disappointed. Egg rolls are crisp on the outside and plumped with distinctive ingredients. Cold noodles, pork buns and dim sum are available daily. Peking duck arrives with crisp, dark skin and fresh matchstick-cut scallions, hoisin sauce and steamed buns as accompaniments. Chef's specials include sunflower chicken, where bite-size pieces of meat are stir-fried with vegetables and a tangy sauce and served up over a flower-shaped bed of spinach. Vegetarians will be delighted by the faux chicken and mock duck.
