Prominently situated on a busy corner of Upper Market, Home is a noisy, bustling spot that teems with good-looking Castro locals. The menu features value-priced versions of comfort-food dishes like steak and fries with red wine butter sauce, roast chicken, and wine-braised pot roast with potato purée. Some portions seem small, but the ravenous have a great selection of side dishes to choose from like the decadent macaroni and cheese gratin. Just like at home, desserts are standouts: a warm blueberry crumble and rich bread pudding. The wine list offers reasonably priced California and French bottles that are in line with the menu. The Backyard bar off the dining room is a lively meeting place for drinks or dining by the fireplace. The brunch menu features a make-your-own Bloody Mary bar with every fixing, mixer and garnish imaginable.
