Foreign Cinema Description:
The dramatic industrial salvage décor, with its huge central fireplace and overtly modern light fixtures, remains as warm and attractive as ever. Foreign classics and independent features, screened nightly on a wall in the gigantic courtyard, provide a romantic backdrop or a welcome distraction to a date-gone-wrong. Delightful Cal-Med dishes are created by the kitchen's husband and wife team who have been into the simple and seasonal since they were co-chefs at Zuni Café. Start with grilled lamb skewers with hummus and avocado chutney or beef carpaccio with fried capers, horseradish sauce and straw potatoes. Indian culinary influences are reflected in main dishes such as the Madras curry-spiced chicken and bavette steak frites with an ajwan and cocoa nib dry rub. After dinner try the cheese plate, an apple and huckleberry crisp with rum raisin ice cream or head next door to the Laszlo bar for an after-dinner cocktail.
