Cafe de la Presse Description:
Presse's front area features outdoor seating, a bar, an international newsstand and flat-screen TVs projecting fashion runway footage. Downstairs in the back is the high-ceilinged dining room, with wood floors, large mirrors and warm-hued walls. Like the décor, the menu is about bistro classics, and is a casual and easygoing destination for either a business breakfast, for ladies who lunch or a tête-à-tête over dinner. The flatbread-style galettes are nice to start, such as the smoked salmon version with horseradish cream, capers and red onion. A salad of lardons and frisée comes with vinaigrette and a perfectly poached egg, but includes the odd addition of bagel not-so-crisps on top. Authentic details abound, like the sandwiches arriving on a wood cutting board and water for each table comes in a glass bottle. At a large buffet table is an array of desserts, like crème caramel in a little jar, but the true charmer is the trio of profiteroles with hazelnut ice cream---seriously oh la la.
