Corvette Diner Description:
After 22 years in Hillcrest, the Corvette Diner has moved to Point Loma, taking over a historic site---once the officer's club at the Naval Training Center known as Liberty Station. The new eatery seats 240-plus, now doubled in size with three distinct sections. But fear not---it's still pure fun, even more so for the kids due to its giant arcade. This rockin' 1950s haven still has the waitresses with beehives, ponyskirts and ponytails who throw Bazooka gum at your table. A favorite of the under-10 and over-50 crowds, Corvette serves juicy burgers, crispy fries and dreamy milkshakes. The classic American menu also includes vegetarian selections and hearty sandwiches like Mom used to make. We usually stick with the burgers, but the open-faced turkey sandwich smothered in gravy can sometimes lure us away. It still reigns as the hot spot of San Diego family dining and is ideal for birthday parties and large raucous groups.
