Carvers Steak & Chops Description:
When the prime rib at this chain-operated steakhouse is good it's first-rate, but consistency isn't a mainstay here. Ditto the service: sometimes we find it accommodating, but at other times we feel forgotten. Early birds flock for the steaks or tournedos Oscar, filet medallions with crab, asparagus and béarnaise sauce, pleasing the surf 'n' turf set. The bar menu is also popular, with its Prime Rib Dippers made from shavings of the rib with a chili mayo sauce. House-battered calamari wins as an appetizer. The burger, made from hand-ground steak, shines as a lean yet hearty meal. One will also find plenty of chicken and seafood entrées and a little Cajun influence in certain dishes like the Andrew's Cajun shrimp. The pastry chef offers cheesecake turtle-style with chocolate, caramel and sugar-glazed almonds or berry-style with Melba sauce, raspberries and blackberries.
