Elephant & Castle Pub & Restaurant Description:
We find the food at Elephant & Castle, the single local outpost of a Canadian chain that usually turns up in shopping centers, borderline at best. Those who hanker after such stodgy English classics as steak-and-kidney pie have pronounced themselves well satisfied with the cooking; to us, sandwiches, burgers and the like seem the wiser choice. But we have no reservations about the dart boards and the vast beer selection, or the daytime live music sessions held on a large, umbrella-shaded terrace with a sterling view of San Diego Bay.
