Andiamo Description:
It's difficult to find good food in certain corners of San Diego County, but thankfully Tierrasanta has Andiamo! The first hint that we will like Javier Ugarte's family-style restaurant comes when fresh-baked rosemary focaccia and an accompanying chunky tomato-basil dip hits the table. Artichoke hearts stuffed with goat cheese and walnuts in a brown butter sage sauce make for a lovely starter. The menu combines salads, appetizers and pizzas with specialties like the garlicky portobello scampi, the prosciutto and fig pizza and the brick oven-baked chicken rolls with goat cheese, polenta and mushrooms. Duck breast rests on a bed of wild mushroom ravioli and is adorned with a port cranberry reduction. Ugarte's tender veal scallopine in a lemon caper sauce is another winner. And like all good Italian spots, Andiamo! serves a mean tiramisu.

We must have visited this restaurant on an off day. We didn't receive bread, rolls, water, or the proper table settings. The appetizer was served on an extremely hot plate, yet the food was cold, dry, and inedible. The entrees were disappointing, and if we had been given the time, we would have cancelled them and left after the first taste. We were very disappointed considering it used to be an excellent restaurant.

BEST Italian I have had in Years!!! Javier Ugarte Owner and Chef is a hidden secret at Andiamo. I wish I had known about this place sooner. Cozy, romantic and incredibly affordable. Andiamo's Full Bar has some fun cocktails, my favorite was the Tiramisu Martini... YUM! They also offer an Early Sunset menu if you are seated before 6pm, of 3 Courses for only $16.95!!!! I will definitely be back early one evening to try. For GREAT Italian its worth the drive from anywhere, only 10 minutes from my home DT right off the 52 freeway.
