Mina and Dimi's Greek House Description:
Should you be headed to Mina & Dimi's for one of its special wine dinners, a flack jacket may be the desired dress; smashing plates is part of the advertised appeal. On nominally normal nights, the food has to fend for itself in this net-draped and dark cave of a restaurant, enlivened by the occasional flaming saganaki cheese plate. Bellwether moussaka, with zucchini and potatoes, is exemplary (there's also a vegetarian version absent the ground beef), the ubiquitous fried squid are well-rendered, and we like the lamb souvlaki and the New Zealand baby rib chops. Among the several shish kebabs, pork gets our vote. And if the dry, leg of lamb chops and the bland and uninspired spanakopita fail to fascinate, the reinvigorated baklava surprises with its rolled shape and orange syrup accents. Be advised that weekend belly dancing gets both loud and in your face---literally.
