Fralo's Art Of Pizza Description:
Fralo's Art of Pizza was awarded the best new restaurant by the San Antonio Express News in 2005 and CityGuides best Italian-pizza restaurant in 2006. Located in Leon Springs, Fralo's serves hand-tossed pizza with an eclectic assortment of toppings. Live music is offered on most weekends. No wine or alcohol is served (as of 1/2007), but you are welcome to bring your own, stop at H-E-B first!
Given the limited indoor seating at Fralo's, we suggest take-out in winter---of which San Antonio does have a few days. But in benign weather, live oak trees provide plenty of shade and picnic tables suggest endless summer. Start with the substantial Porta Pizza (portobello with toppings) or baked chèvre with olive tapenade, both with the bottle of rosé you will have thought to bring (there's no beer and wine license). Continue with a refreshing Mandarin salad as a breather, then get serious with the signature pizzas: nutty chicken with pesto, cheeses and pine nuts; the Greek-inspired Spanako with lamb and kalamata olives; or the Pozzi with new potatoes, smoked provolone and bacon. Posh pastas, including a design-it-yourself lasagna, can be served with a choice of sauces. Desserts are not to be disdained, as there is a "tall" cheesecake and a locally baked apple pie that mom might have made if she only had the time.
