Sam's Steakhouse Description:
Chain steakhouses are slowly making inroads in St. Louis, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the popularity of longtime favorites like Sam's. If anything, the appreciation of a really good steak is spreading to future generations (perhaps as a way of cultivating future customers, Sam's treats children well). But the main clientele is businessmen in ties relaxing after a hard day. There are several rooms, making for a more intimate feeling than some of the other steak joints in town. The red meat---there are a few other options, but they're not what customers come for---is of high quality, brushed with mild, barbecue-like sauce that adds zing. Prime rib has minimal edge fat and arrives juicy and tender. Expect first-rate potatoes, routine desserts, a standard wine list and mostly very sharp service.
