It's possible to thoroughly enjoy Truffles without knowing any of the regulars who've been rewarded with their likenesses on a huge mural, but it does help to have a little background. Truffles gained popularity a decade ago, when it was one of the few establishments in this ritzy suburb to be granted a liquor license. Its clubby feel is due in large part to its location and that very history. The menu rewards everyone, regardless of home address, with dishes like lobster tail, Dover sole and beef bourguignon. Contemporary and traditional American food continues to be the backbone of the menu, but there are a few salutes-on-a-plate to the Big Easy, too, including gumbo. The busy bar scene for the over-30 crowd demands the most expensive jeans you own. It's worth it, as the wine list is broad and deep, and the full menu is available in the bar.
