The kitchen, headed by busy restaurateur Eddie Neill, shows a sure hand and has thankfully given up a tendency to jam lots of food onto every plate, just as the house has made more space between tables in this roomier location, which is full of suburbanites gleeful at their gustatory good fortune. The prix-fixe dinners star real French bistro cuisine like pâtés and potages and daubes, although there are a few excursions like Caesar salads and such. Expect the unusual, at least for St. Louis menus, with ingredients like rabbit and skate, as well as a fine pork loin and good steak frites. Desserts always include something chocolate, and this is a reliable spot for crème brûlée with the right ratio of custard to topping. The wine list includes many fine selections. As for the staff, they'll take good care of anyone who appreciates French fare.
