It wouldn't be my favourite in town but I have found the food quite good and the staff decent. I haven't been there on a busy night so tough to comment on the atmosphere but I the best thing I can say is that I will be going back again.

My husband, sister, and I ate at the Blue On Water Restaurant today and found this food to be the best seafood we've ever had. This is quite a statement coming from customers coming from the Gulf Coast Region and whom are accustomed to eating seafood regularly. From the appetizers, steamed muscles & scallops to the main course, halibut, cod, and a combination shrimp, scallop, & mussel dinner not to mention the wine, we all sampled each others delectible portions and found we were thrilled with the presentation, tastes, and the service. A must experience! Visit before you leave so you can save the best for last! A reservation is best! We were lucky and arrived at the perfect time for an available delicious dinner. We WILL return to the Blue On Water whenever we come back to visit St. John's NL!!! Once a year isn't enough! We are from Houston, Texas!!!

After being delayed by our wedding ceremony & hospitalization, the rude staff were very unhelpful and unsympathetic when we called to postpone our reservations to stay there. We were a few hours past their 48-hour-notice policy when we called. They gave us the "that's too bad" routine and promptly billed our credit card for the room that we would be unable to use. We will be certain to let everyone know about the horrible service that we received. This company was the only one in all of Newfoundland that gave us anything but understanding when we explained our situation. To top it all off, they wouldn't even allow us to have a credit for when we finally did make it there for our honeymoon!
P.S. Skip the restaurant too; it's overpriced; the menu writers did a better job than the kitchen staff.

I stayed at this hotel on business a couple of weeks ago and found that I really didn't have to leave. The Blue on Water dining room offered up some of the best food I've had not only in a hotel restaurant, but over many fancy restaurants that I've eaten at as well. I had the Curried Beef and Goat Cheese to start with the Tenderloin as a main, both were exceptional and left me feeling very satisfied. The ambience is cool, the service was professional and the prices were reasonable. I hope to stay at the hotel again the next time I'm in St-John's.
