Tandoorie Wok Description:
Billing itself as an "Indian fusion" restaurant, Tandoorie Wok is more an odd mishmash of Indian and Chinese cuisine with a bit of Mexican, Italian and American thrown in for good measure. Tandoori enchiladas, for example, or spaghetti with masala marinara. Our recommendation is to skip the fusion altogether and head straight for the traditional Indian. To start, try anything from the "Bombay Beach Bite" menu, specializing in chaat, or Indian snacks. The samosa (potato and peas stuffed in pastry and fried) is served atop spicy garbanzo beans and onions. As a main, the chicken tikka masala is flavorful and tender, the complex Indian spices well-layered throughout the tomato-cream sauce, simmered with almonds for further flavor. Another highlight is the vegetable korma with tofu, the firm squares holding up well in the spicy, buttery sauce. The service is attentive and friendly, the black-and-red décor giving a modern edge to an otherwise drab interior. Midweek, office workers flock here for the lunch buffet, which features a good selection of vegetarian dishes and a salad bar.
