Tamaya Description:
Tamaya lacks the pretentiousness that pervades so many other sushi places in midtown Sacramento. It truly is a neighborhood joint, with an inviting, casual and comfortable atmosphere. The extensive menu features both traditional and imaginative sushi choices, as well as dozens of unusual appetizers and the requisite tempura, udon and bento boxes. Sushi is clearly the main draw: there's a wide selection of nigiri, hand rolls and specialty rolls, and an entire sub-menu of spicy rolls. Our favorites are the mouth-burning 911 Roll---fried tuna and cream cheese served with spicy sauce and jalapeños---and the Titanic Roll, tempura prawns with tuna and salmon topped with a bright orange mélange of spicy crab meat.
