Formoli's Restaurant Description:
The philosophy behind Formoli's Bistro is simple: quality food, good wine and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owners care little for multi-million dollar design, pretension or appearances. It is a true neighborhood bistro, tucked in a strip mall flanked by a dive bar and florist, but its location doesn't seem to deter the regulars who flock here on any given night. The Mediterranean-inspired menu includes starters such as fork-tender sea scallops crusted with green lentils, served over a sweet carrot purée offset with a bitter watercress and fennel salad. Mains include a petite filet, cooked buttery soft with wild mushrooms, truffle smashed potatoes and a port wine demi-glace. Take advantage of the daily specials; the pan-seared mahi was nicely crusted with a delicate interior, the rich meat well balanced with a tangy pineapple vinaigrette. For something more down-to-earth, try the Formoli's pepper-encrusted whiskey burger. Desserts are also a must, and include such delights as a house-made chocolate crème brûlée and a seasonal fruit tart.
