With its high-end décor, topnotch menu and professional service, Ella is one of the city's destination restaurants. The multi-million dollar design is evident in the white floor-length draperies that flow throughout and the imported, colorful wooden shutters that cover the ceiling. Two tables d'hôte provide front-row views of the artistry behind the scenes. The menu is contemporary, with a focus on seasonal, local ingredients. The menu includes selections from the cold bar, small plates, salads, vegetables, pasta, fish and meat, allowing diners to mix-and-match. Starters include such delights as pan-seared sea scallops with cara cara oranges and roasted bone marrow with parsley-caper salad. Mains include hazelnut gnocchi with pumpkin, seared Scottish salmon with bacon lardons, and braised lamb shank with carrot purée. Desserts are just as enticing, such as the salted caramel and chocolate tart or citrus crème brûlée with candied kumquats.

My husband and I had dinner at Ella's last night. What a treat! This place is a gem in Sacarmento where the fine dining choices are a little slim! The decor has a beautiful simplicity and the service was attentive yet not stuffy. The gin and tonic was THE BEST we have both ever had! The food was exquisite! My favorite was the gnocchi, and my husband loved the crispy pork belly, both from the small plate menu. The green beans were tasty, but a little heavy for me, and the chocolate brownie dessert was a little too hard. Overall, it was one of the tastiest dining experiences we've ever had! Not too hard on the wallet too...we ordered 1 cocktail each, 5 items from the menu, dessert, and coffee for $125. Definitely welll worth it!
