OneSpeed Description:
This venture from Rick Mahan of The Waterboy fame takes fine dining down a notch. Like his high-end eatery, OneSpeed features seasonal, local, topnotch ingredients, but this time in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. There's a friendly, neighborhood vibe here, the name a nod to Mahan's love of bicycles as well as his philosophy on the pace of dining. The menu features pizza, small plates and a few salads. The corn soup is the essence of summer, light and warm with a hint of sweetness, the garlic butter drizzle a burst of added flavor. The gnocchi starter, with sage, Parmesan and a light dousing of brown butter, is also surprisingly light, the pillows melting on the tongue. The signature "Rick's" pizza boasts a thin, crispy crust, tangy blasts of goat cheese, buttery Yukon potatoes and salty pancetta, all offset by bitter arugula. For dessert, the house-made chocolate sorbet is rich and dense, reminiscent of frozen fudge minus the guilt.
