Benjarong Description:
Sunlight bathes the intimate dining room making it very appealing, and the authentic Thai decorative pieces and hanging silk also add to the overall Asian effect. Many of Benjarong's dishes are very inspired, and we swooned over the roast duck curry, an amalgam of all the fiery and layered flavors that make Thai cooking so entrancing; besides, the cook is not stingy with his duck portions, a boon to all duck lovers. The spicy red curry with duck (also with your choice of chicken, pork or assorted seafood varieties) is another winner. We also highly recommend the panang chicken curry, and to start, the tod mun with plenty of chili bite. On the downside, the salad khaek was more about iceberg lettuce than any of the other traditional garnishes of eggs and cooked veggies, and the squid cooked with lemon grass and chilies was disappointingly bland. But for a winning Thai meal, Benjarong upstages many of its competitors and is a home for the true Thai food fan.
