Positive Vibe Cafe Description:
Founded by Garth Larcen for his son Max, who has muscular dystrophy, the Positive Vibe Café employs many with physical or cognitive disabilities, from an autistic dishwasher to a cook with a spinal cord injury to a busser with cerebral palsy, and is designed to comfortably accommodate guests in wheelchairs with double-wide, automatic sliding doors and a bar you can roll right up to. But once you try the healthy fare, forget altruism; it's all about taste. House-smoked buffalo brisket is simmered in tomato sauce and beer for a remarkable chili; Key lime gives a twist to traditional cocktail sauce served with fried oysters, fresh collard greens and slaw; vegetarian dishes featuring local and organic products are beautifully composed; and nothing refreshes like the fresh squeezed citrus ades in lime, lemon, orange or cherry lemon. Brunch and monthly guest chef events are especially fun. Corporate and community support have been keen and most servers are volunteers. The décor is modern and stimulating, thanks to changing artwork by challenged artists, and a fresh renovation. "Take nothing for granted" reminds the menu. Including the tasty buffalo meatloaf.
