Strawberry Street Cafe Description:
Not many restaurants can say they've been an answer on Jeopardy. But since 1976, this eatery named for the tree-lined street on which it's situated has so endeared itself to Richmond that regulars weren't surprised when Alex Trebek posed, "The Strawberry Street Café in this Virginia capital is famous for its bathtub salad bar." Tiffany-type lamps and wood trim give it a Friday's look, but it's totally independent. Specials such as practically half-price burgers and quiches (their crusty tops oozing cheesy goodness) on Mondays generate bustle. Inexpensive dishes like spinach lasagna and chicken potpie give it buzz, too. The wine program is extensive, with flights in wrought-iron carriers, Old Dominion labels and global selections. But front and center, what makes the biggest splash here is that William Howard Taft-size bathtub salad bar with homemade soup. Still, if you've got a headache, you might want to skip the clamor and just take out your favorite pickings from that salad bar, or dishes such as chicken quesadillas or Parmesan-encrusted tilapia and enjoy it at home watching TV, getting at least one question right on Jeopardy.
