Lou E Luey's Description:
Lou E. Luey's looks like a particularly scruffy beach bar, and the location under the boardwalk next to a municipal supply closet is not designed to impress. Nevertheless, the cooking here is startlingly good and the prices very low. Chef Rafael Solorzano has cooked at a variety of prestigious venues around L.A., but decided he'd be happier with his own place. He and partner David Letchworth run this cheerful little spot where you can get steaks, seafood and some of the best Mexican food in the South Bay. Highlights include crab and corn bisque, and the lobster enchiladas. The restaurant offers a nice Sunday Champagne brunch. Solorzano and Letchworth also own the adjacent Delzano's, a larger and more expensive restaurant, but promise to keep Lou E. Luey's intact---a boon to those who appreciate casual dining in a great little dive.
