Tavola Rossa Description:
Though Tavola Rossa describes itself as "a casual family restaurant," we find it several notches above the stereotypical neighborhood Italian eatery. A vibrant contemporary décor highlighted by sparkling Murano glass vases and richly upholstered banquettes is just the right setting for the imaginative cuisine. Besides traditional pasta dishes, the menu offers such delights as calamari "steak fries" drizzled with aïoli, braised calf's liver with caramelized onions with figs served over polenta, and a pan-seared pork chop with sweet potato risotto and sautéed apples. And don't miss the tiramisu, offered in three flavors. A glass-enclosed wine cellar shows off an impressive selection of Italian wines. Although one can't count on its being open late, the restaurant stops serving when folks stop coming.
