P.F. Chang's China Bistro Description:
Featuring wok-prepared Chinese dishes, PF Chang's offers a unique, upscale twist to the typical Chinese restaurant. A testimony to its popularity is the fact that without a reservation, there is almost always a wait from when it opens for lunch until it closes at dinner. The interior decour pays close attention to detail, with large overhead lights that subtly change colors throughout the meal. PF Chang's consistantly is winning awards for its cuisine throughout the Triangle.
P.F. Chang's may not be a foodie destination, but it is several cuts above the average shopping mall chain restaurant. Offering an updated take on Asian (mostly Chinese) cuisines against the striking backdrop of an East-meets-West contemporary bistro décor, the culture-melding menu follows suit with such dishes as crab wontons, crisp salt-and-pepper shrimp or calamari, and a salad with citrus-soy wild salmon. The grilled VIP duck with a soy plum sauce is a good bet for poultry lovers, as is the sesame chicken. Seafood specials run along the lines of steamed halibut in an oolong dark broth redolent of soy, ginger and scallion; and lightly battered nuggets of sweet monkfish in a citrus-plum sauce. Try the banana spring roll for dessert with a cup of tea. While the wine list is not as exotic as the menu, it does offer appropriate choices for these dishes. Bartenders here have fun with old fashioned umbrella drinks like the crowd pleasing mai tai.
