La Laiterie Description:
Farmstead is a gourmet and artisan food shop that has gained a reputation as a cheese purveyor for many of Rhode Island's best restaurants. The addition of La Laiterie allowed owners Kate and Matt Jennings to show off their skills closer to home---right next door, to be exact. Waiting for a table here is part of the experience: linger in the cheese shop and sample the veined, earthy and "stinky" cheeses, cured meats, nuts and olives over a glass of wine until your name is called. Your palate will be properly primed for dining on locally sourced delights like grilled sturgeon or the house mussels simmering in a tomato, garlic, shallot and lemon sauce. If you can't do dinner you can lunch on cheese and cured ham and beef à la carte, or try sandwiches of roast turkey with fresh chèvre and cranberry jam or the much-beloved cheesemonger's grilled cheese.
