Rheinlander German Restaurant Description:
There are few destination restaurants like this rollicking step back into old Bavaria, a spot where Portland families have flocked for more than 40 years for a fun night out. To set the festive tone of part theme park, part dining trough, and thoroughly entertaining, the Rheinlander features singing waiters and strolling accordion players. But the menu isn't stuck on traditional German cuisine. The Wiener Schnitzel is garnished with lemon, anchovy and capers. A smoked pork chop arrives with homemade pineapple sauerkraut with a touch of habanero. All dinners include Swiss cheese fondue with cubed bread and a choice of soup or salad. Top it everything off with a stein or two of German beer, and you'll need a wheelbarrow to get back to the car.
