Portland has always lagged behind when it come to Chinese fare, with the exception of Legin. Arrive here at lunchtime and enjoy first-rate dim sum. Its fish tanks swarm with crab, lobsters, and other exotic denizens of the sea, while the white boards at the entrance are brimming with enticing specials. Among our favorites are scallops in the shell with pan-fried asparagus, crab showered with green onions and fresh ginger, and walnut shrimp. Legin also offers the opportunity for the adventurous eater to experiment with such tantalizing wonders as frogs' legs in black bean sauce, jellyfish or sea cucumber.
