BeWon, named for a secret garden where royalty once dined, is an elegant hideaway serving traditional Korean fare enhanced with a modern sensibility. The food here is so adventurous even the menu descriptions inspire flights of fancy. Be daring and order gujeolpan, eight different foods to be wrapped in bite-size crêpes. Or dare to try hobakjuk, rice porridge made with three different pumpkins. Novices are encouraged to begin with han jung shik, a prix-fixe classic meal of seven courses. The wine list is quite fine, and an option for the prix-fixe includes five wine pairings. But why not throw caution to the wind and partake in one of the many Korean rice wines or beers? Without question, BeWon invites experimentation and meets expectations.
