Scores of hungry urbanites queue up, clamoring to enter tiny Square Café. Bold colors and the circle logo brighten the walls. Vintage dinette sets shape the dining room. Under the motto "square meals, square deals," the vibrant eatery serves generously portioned, cooked-to-order breakfast and lunch items on huge square plates. The long and eclectic menu encompasses eggs, omelets, pancakes, waffles, salads, wraps, sandwiches and more---including vegetarian fare and a kid's menu. Options include breakfast quesadillas; oatmeal raisin pancakes; creative crêpes such as Nutella and blue cheese or wild mushroom; a leek, pancetta and mozzarella omelet; and hand-formed, fresh ground beef burgers---square, of course. Desserts are tempting, though not house-made. Go for the giant, gobby chocolate chip-peanut butter cookie with definitive, locally roasted Italian coffee.
