After 25 years in business, this casual, low-key neighborhood restaurant obtained a liquor license and introduced a more ambitious menu. Located in Oakland, the heart of academia, a large clientele of students always boosted the attraction of the budget all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. But the professorial crowd and their international guests gave opportunity for wine sales and more sophisticated dishes. The menu now offers the full range of regional Indian cuisine, including breads. Also, Fridays and Saturdays see specials of fish, lobster and a lamb burger. You can still adjust the heat on spicing to suit your taste. And, carry-out orders are available.
