The Black Sheep Description:
This historic townhouse, designed by the famed architect Frank Furness, boasts all the trappings of a true Irish pub. Art Nouveau metal etches the walls, dark wood furnishes the bar and banquettes---even the beams are appropriately decorated. Sit in front of the Mission fireplace and sample Dagwood-size sandwiches and salads along with Irish specials such as fish 'n' chips and shepherd's pie or good vegetarian options. The return of chef Edgar Alvarez, who opened The Black Sheep and then went on to other endeavors, jumpstarted the menu with dishes such as New York strip steak served over mashed potatoes with summer vegetables in a Cabernet sauce. Guinness is on tap (naturally), along with other import faves such as Stella and Boddingtons. Expect European "football" on the telly and a game of darts in progress. Brunch includes the option of a traditional Irish breakfast, complete with bangers and black and white pudding.
