In a time when restaurants close weekly, one known for its consistency and staying power is unusual. This is such a place, one of the first eateries to come to the Fairmount district, near the Art Museum. The easygoing vibe of the décor---pressed tin ceiling, faux Tiffany lamps, hanging plants and bee lights---so new in the '70s, is practically retro now, but no less romantic. Music in keeping with the ambience, and an amiable young waitstaff, plus a small, reasonable wine list, are all added attractions. Expect some familiar favorites, like lobster quesadillas, a sherry-spiked woodsy cream of wild mushroom, and a spicy jambalaya. Desserts are available for take-out, a feature the locals just love.
