Le Champignon Description:
The billing of French, Japanese and Thai cuisine may sound odd, but the entire place is odd. It's a bed and breakfast, a French dining room, a tatami room, a ballroom and a jazz club. The charming Madame Saito has been running Le Champignon since forever, so clearly the customers are coming. This is not fusion; there are simply old-style French-inspired dishes co-existing with Japanese fare. There are even some Thai options thrown in for good measure. You could start with sushi, have some miso soup, and move on to tempura, then switch to rack of lamb or sweetbreads. Or you could do it the other way around, and, if it's Saturday night, you could take a tango lesson upstairs. The Madame also offers cooking classes if you book in advance.
