Figs Restaurant Description:
A charming spot near the Art Museum celebrates the cuisine of North Africa, in the capable hands of Mustapha Rouissiya---a native of Morocco. There are shish kebabs; interesting salads, particularly one of octopus and calamari in harissa; and dips with North African bread that can occupy much of the cocktail hour (bring your own). Entrées feature a tender lamb tagine, oven-roasted swordfish with date barbecue sauce and whole fish of the day, simply prepared with olive oil and lemon. In this casual, sunny environment, fig or banana ice cream and Middle Eastern cookies are a must. Cash only, so come prepared.
