Chef Sean Weinberg and his wife Kelly run this always-inventive spot in the western Main Line, so good that it draws many diners from City Center. From young families to middle age suburbanites to young couples on first dates, Alba is an amiable hangout. The menu stresses local ingredients and features a wood-fired grill, imbuing everything from octopus to lamb with a hefty dose of smoke and flavor. Slow roasted Berkshire pork, with garlicky smashed fava beans and potatoes, is an updated version of Sunday supper. The changing treatment of local organic veal from Birchrun Hills Farm is always impressive.
