Meurice (Hôtel Le Meurice) Description:
Opposite the Jardin des Tuileries, the legendary Meurice is a luxury hotel in the heart of Paris, located between the Place de la Concorde and the Louvre. Since 2007 the restaurant has had a new look. The light and refined cuisine uses only quality produce.
The Empire period style dining room of Le Dali is interspersed with seats and couches of various styles and colors, topped by a monumental ochre-toned canvas signed by Ara Starck, daughter of the famous designer Philippe Starck. Though the décor is a veiled reference to Salvador Dali's work, the painting rather seems to take a leaf out of "The Dance" by Matisse. Chef Yannic Alléno pays a tribute to creative, classic cuisine with dishes like langoustine ravioli with lemon-thyme butter, and quiche Lorraine with cœur de salade maraîchère---all that is a nice bit of work! The tagliatelli carbonara with cèpe mushrooms is a delicious original version. Slightly salted thin slices of pork are steamed first then barely sautéed, conveying an exquisite flavor to the cèpes and pasta. The lamb navarin, perfectly mellow, is highlighted by a delicate yet spicy juice and young vegetables. This is definitely the signature of a great chef! The crispy and moist millefeuille and the heavenly lemon meringue pie are worthy of praise.
